Awhile back I was on a major carrot juice kick and I wanted to share my carrot juice recipe. It was funny because all my friends said my skin was going to turn orange with all the carrot juice I was drinking. I was making it everyday but you have to drink an abnormal amount for this to happen.
Apparently the excess beta carotene in carrots is what is absorbed into your bloodstream and gives your skin an orange tint. There is nothing harmful about it, so don’t be freaked out and decide to never try this carrot juice recipe. As with me drinking carrot juice everyday for 2 months I never experienced the whole orange glowing skin thing.
The best thing about this recipe is it is very quick easy to make, so here it goes:
Ingredients
- 1 lbs large carrots (pre-peeled and washed)
- 1/2 lemon (peel skin off)
- 2 or 3 leaves of leafy greens like spinach or red lettuce
- 1 apple (whatever kind of apples you like)
Directions
Add the above ingredients into your juice machine. (Centrifugal juicers like jack lalanne juicer are easiest for carrots.) Turn on your juicer. Enjoy right after it is finished juicing.
Note: Peeling carrots takes a little longer, but I do this as a personal preference because I find carrots that aren’t peeled a bit to earthy tasting. While the recipe above works well for me, if you find it to green tasting or you want something a little sweeter, just and another apple or two.
On top of this being great tasting, there are many vitamins you get from it. Carrots provide, vitamins A, B, and E in addition to calcium. These all help with healthy eyes, bones and great looking skin.
